This collection of two lessons builds on the concepts presented in Year 1 of this same topic, training students to apply problem-solving skills to real-life situations. Lesson 1 helps students list the six problem-solving steps in order, and has them work as a group to solve a puzzle using these steps. They are to evaluate their success at accomplishing the tast, following rules, and demonstrating good character.. Lesson 2 has students apply problem-solving steps to a hypothetical situation, and asks them to evaluate solutions for viability, support of values, and relationship to biblical principles. The conversations and activities in each lesson increase the students’ awareness of others, and encourages respect, integrity, caring, honesty, and social justice. The lessons are 45 minutes long and are flexible in group size. Each of the two lessons includes a detailed lesson plan, lists of materials needed, and questions to help guide a constructive conversation.
