The lesson “Dependability” teaches children how to effectively demonstrate healthy and compassionate interpersonal relationship skills through the understanding of the concept of dependability. Each child will be able to give a definition for the word, ‘dependable,’ as well as explain name characteristics of someone who is dependable and someone who is not. Children will have the opportunity name people in their own lives upon whom they may depend, as well as responsibilities they have that make them dependable. Most importantly, the children will understand that God is ultimately dependable. The lesson includes guided instructions for the teacher, including preparation, a script, and suggested activities to facilitate further learning in a fun and interactive manner. This lesson is designed for children between 6-8 years, and is the 42nd lesson in the 2nd Year Core Curriculum Set and part of the “Leadership Preparation” unit.
