The lesson “Bonding of Child to Caregiver/Family” helps a caregiver understand the importance of bonding with her newborn. It explains various methods of bonding, such as eye contact, facial expressions and soothing physical touch. There are also opportunities for the caregiver, father and other close family to practice bonding methods. Lastly, this lesson addresses recognizing the signs of postpartum depression and its detrimental effect on bonding with a newborn.
