The lesson “I Can Sew with My Hands” is part 12 of a 42 part series on parts of the human body, health, and safety. This lesson teaches using the hands, yarn, and cardboard to learn a sewing activity. Sewing can be a basic skill that helps others and increases hand/eye coordination. This resource includes a lesson plan for the teacher on how to prepare beforehand, class-time content to facilitate learning about the arms, hands-on activities facilitating further learning, and a teacher assessment at the end. There is also an alternative activity with a word and hand motion song suggested. This lesson is designed for a group of young children between the ages of 3 and 5, and is the twelfth physical development lesson in the Core Curriculum, 3-5 years, Year One.
